Each class has been working hard to create some fabulous displays around our school. The theme was ‘Teamwork’ and they have certainly shown their teamwork skills in various ways with wonderful links to their learning.
Year 6 have been busy writing persuasive letters to local businesses this week, in a bid to persuade them to donate some much needed iPads to our school.
We have been learning about microorganisms and the diseases they cause. We learnt about the history of diseases, when and how they were discovered and cures were found. We acted out the discoveries to help our understanding.
Children from each class celebrated their fantastic attitude and effort towards their learning this half term, with Mrs Quereshi. Well done!
Year sixes have been tasting soup and researching rationing to plan their own soup recipes. They will make their soup on Friday.
Year 6 had a lovely morning working with the children from Kingsbury High via Skype and Edmondo on research and Scratch challenges.
Children throughout the school have enjoyed taking part in the National Hour Of Code this week. The initiative encourages children to become coders and problem solvers. The Year 5 children have enjoyed a range of activities with our volunteer computing expert, Simon Devon, which included coding robots and Microbits. Children in our school coding club also enjoyed a challenging coding session this week which they proudly demonstrated to their parents after the club, which turned into a mini robot wars episode in our school hall!
EYFS and KS1 also enjoyed learning how to Code using Osmo the iPad educational gaming accessory, which was expertly demonstrated by some of our Year 4 children. Our Year 6 children will also be taking part in a collaborative coding challenge this Friday, with a group of Year 7 and 8 secondary school children, via Skype in our computing suite.
