Fir class had to rescue a lego cube from ice! We kept our hands on it to warm it up and melt the ice. We also kept hitting the ice block with a pencil to crack it! We had great fun!
We loved watching the fantastic Dr Bridge demonstrate some incredible scientific experiments. We learnt all about microwaves and saw what sound waves looked like on an oscilloscope. Miss Watson even got a new hairdo from the electrostatic machine.
In the afternoon we tried 3 of our own experiments that you can try at home.
The Cornflakes and magnets experiment
This afternoon Year 1 explored turning a liquid into a solid by making ice-cream!
Well many were successful, some were disqualified for not matching the criteria, and others were missing the entire arch of the bridge!
But three teams completed the task and were successful, well done!
Juniper Class experimented with construction as they were challenged to build a bridge that allowed a toy truck through, and supported the weight of a toy car.
They could only use pieces of Lego measuring 4cm or less for the bridge itself and the competition was fierce!
Resulting success will be appearing on here shortly!!!
Last Friday , Y4 went to Oaklands College for the Sports Partnership County Finals. We had beaten 20 school teams from the local and partnership finals to get there. A massive achievement in the first place!! Well done Maya, Marli, Mia, Alice, Zoe, Aidan, Austin, Charlie, Jon and Max!
We were super excited and nervous to take part, there were 9 other teams, who had all beaten 20 school teams as well, all competing for the Tri – Golf Trophy! We had a lovely day and worked really hard in the first half ……. so well that we were in the lead!
So we were very excited and more nervous….. even the adults! We played as hard as we could congratulating each other at every shot. The scorers were so impressed with us they gave us a Team work baton! We were very proud.
Out of the 9 teams, we came 3rd!! WE CAME 3rd!! AMAZING! Well done Y4 tri – golf team. We are very proud. We will display the teamwork baton and certificate on the sports board in September!
Our children are making a structure to support the weight of chocolate bars! Winner takes all! They are VERY focussed!
