This week Apple Nursery have been linking their learning to the story ‘Room on the Broom’. We have played with the characters from the story, made our own magical mud mixtures, thought of and drawn our own potions, watched bubbling reactions and used different containers to fill up larger ones until they were full!
Why not borrow this book from the library this weekend… The children have loved reading it and writing character descriptions and retells of it this week. We will be writing our own alternative endings for it next week in English, I can’t wait to read them!
Ask your children to explain the story depicted on the willow pattern plate:
This week Juniper class read the story of The Heart and the Bottle by Oliver Jeffers. As a class we discussed the meaning of the story and then thought specifically about the different emotions which were being portrayed. We then related these to times when we may have felt these feelings in our own lives.
On Monday the children learned about Remembrance Day and took part in a minutes silence. The children were given the opportunity to make their own poppies to mark the occasion. They used lots of different materials and techniques to make some fantastic work.
We videoed one another retelling the story of The Gruffalo. We used actions and story maps to help us.
Rowan class have been working out where potential errors could happen in their work, in Maths. Check out them in action!
We had a visit from the evil Hindu god Ravana. We used a drama activity to think about how the characters from the story would have felt.
Today we had a visit from Ravana the evil Hindu god. We learnt a new drama activity called conscience alley.
All of Early Years got to enjoy a fantastic drama, dance and musical spectacular called Magical Minds. It was a story all about emotions and how they help us to be resilient, hardworking and loving people.
On Thursday Fir class enjoyed the assembly about emotions and how to deal with different feelings. The children were very eager to talk about what they had learnt on their return to the classroom. This is in good preparation for our anti-bullying day next Friday.
